Neutering:
   Cats - Female cats can be spayed and male cats castrated 
              from around 5 and a half months old if they are 
              mature enough
   Dogs - Bitches can be spayed from 5 months old if they 
              are mature enough.  Male dogs can be castrated 
              from 6 months old
   Rabbits - Can be spayed or castrated from about 4 
              months old

Medical treatment - Darley House is equipped with a full 
   range of high quality diagnostic equipment including;
    - In-house laboratory providing rapid results for 
              biochemistry including liver, kidney, thyroid and 
              pancreatic function and haematology
    - Endoscope
    - ECG
    - Oscillometric blood pressure monitoring
    - Digital X-ray facilities with automatic processor
    - Ultrasound Scanner

Surgical treatment - The modern operating theatre at Darley House is equipped with the latest technology including:
    - Pulse oximetry
    - Infusion pumps
    - Anaesthetic machines and monitors using safer anesthetic agents
    - Extensive orthopaedic equipment
    - Endoscope
    - Ultrasonic dental hygiene equipment, drill and polishing equipment

• In-patient facilities - If we need to keep pets in for more intensive treatment we have purpose built, modern, warm and comfortable kennels and cattery with a variety of different sizes, levels and types of bedding to minimalise stress and increase comfort.  There are separate isolation facilities for pets with infectious conditions with their own washing and feeding facilities and drainage system.  There is always a vet and nurse on duty for the care of the in-patients who monitor the patients as often as needed for each particular case which may mean during the night.  If is thought to be beneficial for an intensive care patient then they may be transferred to an emergency clinic.

The sessions are run by Karen and Gemma, experienced registered veterinary nurses. They can give free and reduced rate consultations and expert advice on a range of ailments and issues as well as physical examinations and minor procedures.

Pet Insurance

We recommend insurance for all pets especially dogs, cats and rabbits. If you have pet insurance, you can avail of all the treatment they require, without worrying about cost. It also makes it possible for them to benefit from the new more sophisticated tests, techniques and treatments which can be very expensive.

Please telephone our reception to make an appointment or for details of pet ambulances and taxis that will transport you and your pets.

Emergencies are seen at any time but please telephone before you come down.
Emergencies outside of our opening hours

Your pets are cherished companions - and just like us, they can become ill of suffer accidents at night, over the weekend or during a public holiday - just when your usual vets' surgery is closed.

That's where Vets Now comes in.  They work in partnership with Darley House to provide a dedicated emergency service during our closed hours.

Payment

If you make the payment at the time of treatment, you get a discount. We accept cash and most major credit/debit cards.



Repeat Prescriptions

If your pet is on a long term medication, Prescription Only Medication Legislation requires that we examine your pet regularly. We can check that your pet is not developing side effects or other problems and the condition is still responding well to the drugs prescribed. This is normally between 2 and 6 months depending on the drugs and the problem being treated and this is usually charged at a reduced price consultation fee.

If you wish to order a repeat prescription please phone the surgery so the medication can be ready the next day or ordered if not kept in stock.
